Driving Instructions To Nettles Farm

We are located on Lummi Island, in the northwest corner of Whatcom County, Washington, northwest of Bellingham. Our island has a population of about 800 in the winter, and 2500 in the summer.

The ferry departs from Gooseberry Point and costs $13 for a car and driver, $7 per each additional person, and $7 to walk on. The boat generally leaves the mainland at 10 past the hour, though it runs every half hour from 7am to 10 am, and from 2pm to 6pm. It runs more often on weekends if its 20 car capacity is exceeded on any run. It takes about 10 minutes to drive back to the ferry from the farm, which generally leaves the island on the hour.

From I-5, turn west at exit 260, Slater Road. Go about 1.5 miles, and turn left (south) onto Haxton. Follow Haxton to the ferry landing, about 5 miles. From the ferry turn left, go about 1/3 mile and turn right onto Lego Bay Rd. Follow this road around the shoreline for 3.5 miles. Turn right onto Melcher, which goes up the hill away from the water. Bear left twice. This puts you into Sunset Beach, a small housing development. Bear right, and you can see Matia View, a gravel road to the right. Turn right onto Matia View. We are the first farm on the left, marked with a roadside sign.
